Mark Thorley
On completion of an LLB Honours degree and a Dip LP, Mark Thorley spent six years with Edinburgh firm Balfour & Manson, first as a trainee then a qualified assistant, specialising in reparation, family and criminal law.
In 1992, he co-founded Blacklock Thorley Solicitors in Edinburgh, specialising in debt recovery, family, criminal and reparation law. He progressed, in 2005 along with Jim Stephenson, to found Thorley Stephenson.
Since then he has been in charge of the family law and reparation department of the firm that started with one assistant and now has grown into a team of nine lawyers and one trainee solicitor.
“Following many years as a solicitor in private practice, I believe that I have the experience to deal with clients’ problems in a sympathetic manner whilst guiding them towards a desired solution. Many of my clients return to me on a regular basis for advice and I obtain a substantial amount of referral work.”
“For all you devoted and responsible fathers out there caught up in a power imbalance and struggling with sufficient contact, Mark Thorley from Thorley Stephenson is your man. Today we share my son's holidays and I get to see him every term. I can't thank Mark and his team enough for their effort and support. It has changed me and my son's lives for the better.” E.H, Cape Town, South Africa
“Mr. Thorley was my solicitor for almost three years. He worked hard, always took my calls or got right back to me, and in the end we won. Very - VERY - highly recommended” D.E, Edinburgh
